The club was formed in 1995
when a group of players left the Rampton Club to form a new club.
The only village that had suitable premises was Over.
We started off with 9 players,
enough to form one team in the league. Over the years the numbers
have fluctuated between 9 and 27, and we currently have 17 players
that enables us to keep two teams in the first division of the
East Cambridgeshire Area league.
The club plays in red and
black diagonal stripe shirts with black trousers and jumpers.
These colours have become very familiar where carpet bowls is
played. Over the past 10 years the club has become one of the top
3 clubs in Cambridgeshire. And has Cambridgeshire is recognised as
the top county in the country that puts the club up among the best
clubs nationwide.
We currently have 5 players in
the Cambridgeshire County Team that won the Eastern Counties and
National league titles in November 2004, that team also won the
National 4s title in November 2004. Ian Blunsten won the English
Pairs Championship with Kelly Blunsten in March 2005.
Last
year the club finished 3rd and 5th in the
league that was not good when compared with past years. The club
has reorganised the teams for the coming league season and we hope
to improve on last year.
